Michael J Shannon began his IT career when he transitioned from a recording studio engineer and musician/performer to a network technician for a major telecommunications company in the early 1990’s. He soon began to focus on IT privacy and security and was one of the first ten people to attain the HIPAA Certified Security Specialist. Throughout his 30 years in Information Technology, he has worked as an employee, contractor, and consultant for several enterprises including Platinum Technologies, Fujitsu, IBM, State Farm, MindSharp, CBT Nuggets, Thomson, Pearson, and most recently Skillsoft.
Michael has authored several books, training manuals, blog articles, and CBT modules over the years as well. With Skillsoft he is a content developer, presenter, and live bootcamp instructor for various security and cloud computing topics. He has attained CISSP, CCSP, ITIL 4 Managing Professional, CCNP Security, Palo Alto PCNSE7 and OpenFAIR certifications, among other various cloud-based certifications. His is still involved in the music business and is presently writing songs and co-producing a debut album for a young up-and-coming singer from Phoenix Arizona. His hobbies are playing guitar, songwriting, trading cybercurrencies, and golf. He resides with his wife in Houston Texas.
