Unprecedented levels of hybrid work seem to likely persist beyond the pandemic conditions. Even as offices have reopened, many employees are hesitant to give up the benefits of working from home at least some of the time. While working from home has multiple benefits, such as saving time, shedding the stress of commuting, and having more flexibility to balance work and personal life, it has some downsides too. For example, the nature, frequency, and quality of interactions change when colleagues are physically remote, leading to a less dynamic communication and lack of support from colleagues. Research suggests that lack of support from colleagues is the most significant factor in remote employees feeling lonely. This course helps you to understand the importance of colleague support and the ways in which managers can encourage a culture of support among colleagues.
