The purpose of this training is to provide forklift health and safety awareness material to those who operate forklifts, supervise or work in an area where forklifts are in operation. This course is also suitable for those interested in becoming trained forklift operators. Additional knowledge and practical assessments are required in order to become a licensed forklift operator, which can be undertaken through a registered training organisation (RTO). The content in this course is designed to comply with the intent of the applicable regulatory requirements.Learner objectives are to recognise general engineering and capacity principles associated with forklift safety; identify factors that lead to forklifts tipping over; distinguish between safe and unsafe forklift operations; describe the differences between driving an automobile and a forklift; identify general loading and unloading principles associated with forklift safety; specify safe refuelling and recharging procedures; and list the steps to perform in walk-around and sit-down inspections. This course will cover use of the 'LF' class licensed forklifts (also known as industrial lift trucks) including counterbalanced forklift trucks, side-loading forklift trucks and reach forklift trucks.These course materials and content are for informational purposes only and do not constitute legal advice.
