This training provides information concerning decontamination, which is the process of removing contaminants that have collected on workers and equipment. Decontamination protects you from hazardous substances that may contaminate and eventually penetrate protective clothing, respiratory equipment, tools, vehicles, and other equipment used on-site. It also prevents the movement of contaminants from the site to the community. The content in this course is designed to comply with the intent of the applicable regulatory requirements. Learner objectives for this course are to list the major factors that affect permeation of contaminants, identify the steps in making a decontamination plan, identify the zones of a hazardous material site, list decontamination procedures for personnel and equipment, describe tests used to determine the effectiveness of decontamination methods, identify health and safety hazards associated with decontamination procedures, and recognize how emergency decontamination situations should be handled.The course was developed and reviewed with subject matter support provided by certified subject matter experts and industry professionals.
