Monitoring and benchmarking are essential when designing cloud that considers disaster recovery, high availability, and failover. In this course, you'll recognize the cloud design considerations that provide the highest possible availability, the levels of redundancy that ensure services continue in the case of a disaster, and the procedures that can be implemented for disaster recovery and business continuity. Moving on, you'll examine common deployment architectures to address availability and resiliency, the parameters and performance indices monitored at each cloud deployment level, and the goals of benchmarking. Next, you'll examine the different failover scenarios prevalent in cloud and the prominent use cases for placement groups and single and multiple availability zones. You'll configure EC2 Linux instances, install the Iperf network benchmark tool, and test TCP and UDP network performance. Lastly, you'll benchmark network throughput on an Amazon EC2 Windows instance and configure active-passive failover with multiple primary and secondary record resources. This course can be used in preparation for the CompTIA Cloud Essentials+ (CLO-002) certification exam.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

  • Discover the key concepts covered in this course
Recall the key cloud design considerations to provide the highest possible availability
Recognize the levels of redundancy that help services to continue in the case of a disaster
Describe the set of policies, tools, and procedures that can be implemented for disaster recovery and to enable business continuity
Identify the differences between recovery time objective (rto) and recovery point objective (rpo) and describe the factors that need to be considered to calculate rto and rpo
Recall the common deployment architectures used by cloud providers to address availability and resiliency in their service offerings
List the monitored parameters and performance indices required at each cloud deployment level, including the infrastructure, platform, and application levels
  • Describe the goals of benchmarking cloud services along with the benchmarking scenarios that help represent the potential conditions and goals to be achieved through performance analysis and monitoring
Launch and configure ec2 linux instances, install iperf network benchmarking tool on both instances, and test tcp and udp network performance between the instances
Benchmark network throughput on amazon ec2 windows instances
Describe the concept of failover along with the different scenarios of failover prevalent in the cloud
Configure active-passive failover with multiple resources for the primary and secondary record
