About the Author
Thorsten Lüdtke is an independent BI architect, specializing in data warehouse architectures based on SAP BW/4HANA, SAP HANA, Hadoop, and Spark. Thorsten began work as a MicroStrategy employee in 1997, developing applications for business intelligence. In 1999, he developed the first SAP RapidMarts solution (currently SAP BusinessObjects) based on SAP Business Information Warehouse 1.2B at Acta Technology in Silicon Valley. From 2002 to 2005, he worked as an SAP BI consultant and SAP BW trainer for SAP SE and SAP UK, in numerous projects in Germany and the UK. In 2006 he started a joint venture with Bill Inmon as a member of the advisory board and presented the results (BI Master Data Management) at SAPPHIRE 2007 in Vienna. This event marks the beginning of his company, BIPortal GmbH.
As a participant in the Strata conference in London in 2013, he decided to focus on data products because he could apply his experience in mathematical optimization, machine learning, and economics in this area. Thorsten studied economic informatics at the Technical University of Braunschweig. His diploma thesis presented the application of machine learning for business analytics, now a reality with SAP BW/4HANA.
