Stop wasting time, money, energy, and resources on lecture-based safety trainings that have been proven ineffective. Set participants up for success with action-based safety training activities that will prevent injuries and incidents.
Safety Training That Transfers offers more than 50 activities dedicated to different aspects of workplace safety. Each activity includes an overview, step-by-step instructions, and debriefing questions that reinforce each lesson.
The activities are so memorable that participants will be talking about them long after the formal training is complete. Activities range from a newspaper race to a safety scavenger hunt. And your employees will be excited to see what comes next. They increase knowledge, build coworker relationships, and boost morale. All incorporate adult learning theory and principles of knowledge retention.
About the Authors
Ellis Ritz is one of the cofounders of Meyvn Global, and is currently acting as the director of learning and development. During his nearly 40 years of mining and training experience, Ellis saw a need for training and consulting on a level that others could better identify with.
Ellis is always looking for opportunities to get people more involved, and to make training more enjoyable and remembered. He still does classroom training for trainers, frontline leaders, and safety classes working, and is constantly working toward the day when all training gets a hooray! rather than an oh no! Ellis believes training can greatly affect the bottom line, save lives, and, through unique techniques, be fondly remembered and practiced.
Ellis holds a Certified Professional of Learning and Performance (CPLP) certificate through the American Society of Training & Development, now known as ATD, of which he is a member. He lives in Tucson, Arizona, where he writes short stories and poetry, and chases antiques when time permits.
Steven Cohen is cofounder and CEO of Meyvn Global, a contemporary training consultancy with roots in the mining industry. He has logged thousands of hours focused on developing those in an organizational setting. Steve spends most of his free time thinking about the next great training solution, and is constantly building models for improving organizational health.
He is so passionate about creating a shift in the training paradigm that he has spent the past three years throwing every big idea that he has right in the face of convention. Working with clients all over the world, Steve has positively influenced organizational performance with his creative mind and infectious energy.
Steve holds an MS in organizational development from Pepperdine University, and a BA in speech communication from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana. He lives in Denver, Colorado, where he volunteers with Big Brothers Big Sisters.
