The COVID-19 pandemic is disrupting humankind globally, as cities and countries have effectively shut down to combat the virus with physical distancing. Individually, people react differently in times of emergency: Some attempt a business-as-usual approach, while others switch into crisis mode. What we all share is at least some need to improvise in adapting to an unprecedented situation.

About the Author

Ali Aslan Gümüsay (@guemuesay) is head of the innovation and entrepreneurship research group at the Humboldt Institute for Internet and Society Berlin and senior researcher at the University of Hamburg. Leonhard Dobusch (@leonidobusch) is a professor of business administration at the University of Innsbruck, where he focuses on organization and the management of digital communities. He is also cofounder of the Vienna-based Momentum Institute.
