E-mail, voice mail, conference calls, and videoconferences have revolutionized how we communicate in corporate America and around the globe. In today's fast-paced business environment, companies are dependent on technology to link personnel across cities, states, and countries, especially as virtual teams become a greater part of our business environment. Yet, companies rarely provide formal training on how to effectively manage communication through these resources.
This pocket guide includes:
- Guidelines for communicating effectively through e-mail, voice mail, and conference calls.
- Tips for cost-effective communications.
- Creative and practical suggestions for building and managing your virtual team.
About the Author
Laurie Benson is in charge of U.S. Professional Development Operations at Andersen Consulting, the world's largest international consulting firm. She has over eight years of experience communicating with, building, and managing virtual teams and projects. Initially, her intentions were to provide guidelines and checklists for her Team Leads. During the course of defining the guidelines, she realized that the dynamics of virtual communication are more complex than could be addressed in this form. This discovery led her to compile her thoughts and experinces which became the basis for this book. The Manager's Pocket Guide to eCommunication contains creative, practical and sometimes entertaining techniques that work!
