Leading Through Leaders: Driving Strategy, Execution and Change will help you improve your business results by overcoming the challenges of uncertainty, complexity, imperfect decision-making and communication, and staff disengagement. Whilst focused on building collective leadership as a strategic capability, the author provides the means for effective individual leadership: a coherent framework of principles, process and behaviour to create the conditions for success, and the systemic and dynamic integration and alignment of leaders and engaged teams at all levels.
Based on the author's 27 years of leadership and consulting experience, and illustrated with case studies and learning from clients such as Cisco, Best Western, ABN AMRO, Pfizer and the NHS, this book provides unique insights into 'effective leadership' in some of the world's best known enterprises.
Leading Through Leaders presents an integrated suite of proven and durable principles and tools, and the leadership psychology, that may be adapted and used by any leader. It provides businesses with the intellectual firepower to rise above the fog and clutter of operational issues and focus on strategic priorities, with the confidence that junior leaders and their teams are fully engaged and aligned at the tactical level.
About the Author
Since 1995, Jeremy and his colleagues have provided leadership assessment and development, strategy and execution, and organizational change consulting services to clients in the private, public and third sectors across the UK and the EU, Asia, Australasia and the United States. He is an Executive Fellow at Henley Business School.
Jeremy has designed and led large-scale projects in the UK, the United States, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia and Tanzania with clients such as Cisco Systems, MCI, Pfizer, Philips, ABN AMRO, Best Western, Capital Finance/HBOS, Rothschilds, The Tanzanian Civil Service, BZW, St George Bank, Roche, and Colgate Palmolive. He has provided leadership advice to the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and to The Joint Services Command and Staff College.
Prior to 1995, Jeremy worked as an executive search consultant and as a sales executive with Procter & Gamble in the fast-moving consumer goods industry. His formative years were spent as an officer in the British Army. During his 10-year military career, Jeremy served in Northern Ireland, Hong Kong, Brunei, Berlin, Cyprus, Norway, Turkey, Denmark and Italy. His military career includes the leadership of 180 soldiers in an infantry company group of 1st Battalion The Duke of Edinburgh's Royal Regiment (Berkshire and Wiltshire) – now amalgamated into The Rifles – and the leadership of small teams of specialists in The Intelligence Corps. During his military career, Jeremy was responsible for briefing Cabinet Ministers and four-star officers.
Jeremy's best-selling book, Leading Initiatives: Leadership, teamwork and the bottom line, published in 1997 (and written in 1995/96) effectively launched his leadership consulting career. That blueprint has been honed and developed with 16 years' worth of practical application, research and reflection and became the foundation of an MSc in Leadership and Organization that Jeremy designed.
Jeremy was born in Devon, educated in the UK at Churston Grammar School, Welbeck College, The University of Warwick (BSc Hons in Engineering Electronics), The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, and Junior Division, The Staff College. He is married with two sons and his personal interests include sailing (he completed the 1995, 1996 and 1998 Sydney-Hobart races), traditional English music and dance (he organizes festivals), playing melodeon (he has an English ceilidh band that you can book called Monty's Maggot!), shooting, his dogs, fencing, mountain walking, traditional cider, perry and real ale, sea shanties (he founded a group in Sydney that performed at several classic boat festivals while he was living there), and traditional New Orleans Jazz (he has produced one CD).
