About the Author
Valerie J. Richardson is President and Chief Executive Officer of TreWyn, Incorporated, a financial and strategic management consulting practice based in Germantown, Maryland. She is also an instructor in the areas of performance measurement, strategic planning, program evaluation, the Results Act of 1993, budget formulation, execution, and justification, U.S. Standard General Ledger, and financial management in business operations in government. Formerly, she was Associate Director of the Center for Improving Government Performance at the National Academy of Public Administration, a public policy think tank chartered by Congress. As the Senior Advisor to the Comptroller and Deputy CFO of the Patent and Trademark Office, she received the Department of Commerce’s Bronze Medal Award for Implementation of the Results Act and a group Bronze Medal for Self-Managed Work Teams. Ms. Richardson is a graduate of the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, Senior Executive Fellows Program. She holds a Master’s of Financial Management from the University of Maryland and undergraduate degrees from Trenton State College in Public Administration and Political Science.
