Learning with Purpose
Train-the-Trainer to Drive Engagement
37 countries. 28 languages. 270 sites. And 32,000 employees.
If that wasn’t challenging enough for the Learning and Development Community at DS Smith, they operate in different geographies, use different languages, and the goal was to provide a consistent quality experience for all first line managers.
With a need to provide local training, the only way forward was to develop a network of hand-selected trainers who can engage and have an impact at a local level.
Not just anyone could be a trainer.
Trainers must be passionate about learning and fully embrace the opportunity to support colleagues. Following a train the trainer approach DS Smith has built a credible network across the business with support from the Learning and Development Community and HR teams.
Program content is co-created by the community and tested with the potential audience. By creating learning together, it resonates more strongly with those who go through training. The lessons learned from one site are easily applied to others.
“The most effective training is co-created with representatives from across the business, passion for development, and learning is infectious.”
