“Our hopes for a more just, safe, and peaceful world can only be achieved when there is universal respect for the inherent dignity and equal rights of all members of the human family.”

WELCOME TO DECEMBER!

Celebrating Universal Human Rights Month: A Corporate Commitment

December is Universal Human Rights Month, and a time to reflect and act on the fundamental rights and dignities of every individual, no matter their nationality, ethnicity, gender, or background. As leaders, this month is the perfect opportunity to show our dedication to these universal principles and weave them more deeply into the tapestry of our business practices and culture.

Universal Human Rights Month celebrates the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), which the United Nations General Assembly adopted on December 10, 1948. This document outlines the inalienable rights for all humans, including freedom, equality, and justice. As a business, it’s our responsibility to ensure these rights are respected, supported, and promoted within our realms of influence.
Incorporating human rights into corporate strategies is not just the right thing to do — it’s also smart business. Companies that prioritize human rights build trust with stakeholders, create inclusive and diverse workplaces, and enhance their reputations. Plus, respecting human rights leads to happier employees, better retention, and stronger relationships with customers and communities.

During Universal Human Rights Month, we encourage everyone—employees and partners—to engage in meaningful discussions and activities that highlight human rights issues. Organize workshops, get involved in community outreach programs, and support initiatives that advocate for human rights. Let’s use this month to celebrate our successes in this area and identify how we can improve. This month, let’s renew our commitment to fostering a corporate environment that respects and champions the rights of all individuals. Together, we can help create a world where human rights are universally upheld and where everyone can live with dignity and respect.

Be sure to check out this month's OFF THE SHELF book club’s Universal Human Rights bookshelf and Percipio's ever-growing library of courses and videos.
