Hazardous air contaminants should be controlled as they can cause serious injury or death. When engineering controls cannot regulate exposures to hazardous air contaminants, respiratory protection can be used. Employers are responsible for their employees' safety and should develop a respiratory protection program with work site-specific procedures. Employers should also provide appropriate training to the employees regarding the use of respirators. It is the responsibility of each employee to follow their company's safe work practices in respiratory protection procedures. In this impact series, Leo Old talks about responsibilities.
