The relationships between Indigenous peoples and the governments of Canada and the United States are complex and multifaceted. They involve ongoing discussions and negotiations regarding land rights, self-governance, economic development, and cultural preservation. In the United States, Indigenous peoples have their own unique historical and legal relationships with the federal government. There are over 500 federally recognized tribes, each with its own government-to-government relationship with the US government. In this Leadercamp, one of Canada's most powerful voices for reconciliation, Former Chief of the Cowessess First Nation, Cadmus Delorme will discuss what Indigenous Peoples truly inherited and ways to improve relationships through strategic goal setting and collaborative approaches. This Leadercamp is offered in partnership with OneHoop, an organization driven to advance Canadians' understanding of economic reconciliation and support meaningful relationship-building between the corporate sector, governments and the Indigenous community.
