Telephony features are typically used by end users, who may not be technical and fail to recognize specific dialing patterns or numbers when in different locations. Globalizing the dial plan in call routing allows voice engineers to implement a unified dialing method that is location-agnostic, eliminating some end-user challenges. In this course, you'll learn how globalization impacts call routing and dialing patterns in the Cisco Unified Communications environment. You'll examine different terminologies used in globalized call routing and how globalization and localization are done during egress and ingress. By the end of this course, you'll have practiced implementing globalized call routing in Cisco Unified CM and IOS Gateway. You can use this course to prepare for the relevant part of the 350-801: Implementing and Operating Cisco Collaboration Core Technologies (CLCOR) certification exam.

1m 52sIn this video, you’ll learn more about your instructor and this course. In this course, you’ll learn about the implementation of globalized call routing. You’ll discover the different terminologies used in globalized call routing and explore how globalization and localization are done through egress and ingress. You’ll learn globalized call routing helps simplify the dial plan in multisite deployments by avoiding multiple dial patterns. FREE ACCESS
-
3m 9sIn this video, you’ll learn more about the requirements for globalized call routing in a CUCM network. You’ll learn globalized call routing is imperative as organizations expand multiple geographical locations. With multisite deployments, dial plans become complicated and multiple considerations need to be made to have a robust dial plan. Globalization simplifies dial plans to a great extent because call routing happens based on a standardized number format. FREE ACCESS
-
3m 24sIn this video, you’ll learn more about globalized call routing application scenarios. You’ll learn there are key points associated with globalized call routing that can help you understand its use. One format is used for PSTN calls. All calls destined to the PSTN follow a particular standardized format, and there are no exceptions. You’ll discover this makes call routing simple, since you don’t have to deal with multiple dial patterns. FREE ACCESS
-
5mIn this video, you’ll learn the terminologies and the number formats used in globalized call routing. You’ll discover E.164 is the standardized format used for call routing when globalizing the dial plan. The E.164 format starts with a + sign and is referred to as the +E.164 format. The number of digits in the entire +E.164 format cannot exceed 15. You’ll learn the +E.164 format is globally unique in IP version 4. FREE ACCESS
-
5m 47sIn this video, you’ll see examples of the different ingress points a call can be presented from and the techniques to globalize them. You’ll see that double clicking on the globalization of calls ingressing on CUCM from a gateway will show you several emerging patterns. Since the call is coming in via the gateway, the calling and the called numbers are in localized E.164 format. FREE ACCESS
-
3m 50sIn this video, you’ll see examples of the different egress points a call can be sent out to and the techniques to localize them. You’ll discover that for localization of globalized calls egressing from CUCM, the only requirement is to ensure that the calling and called number are in a localized E.164 format on the gateway. This is to ensure the PSTN receives the call in a format it expects. FREE ACCESS
-
10m 50sIn this video, you’ll watch a demo. You’ll globalize calls so globalized call routing can be used. Initially, you’ll make a call from a PSTN phone to an internal phone, then you'll globalize the calling number so it shows up as a +E.164 number on the phone screen. Then, you’ll localize the calling number and ensure it shows up in ten-digit format on the phone, but is stored in +E.164 format in Missed Calls. FREE ACCESS
-
46sIn this video, you’ll summarize what you’ve learned in the course. In this course, you’ve learned globalized call routing strategies and their implementation, globalization of dial plans, globalized call routing application scenarios, different ingress points and the techniques to globalize them, and different egress points and the techniques to localize them.
