About the Authors
Dorothy Strachan and Paul Tomlinson are partners in Strachan-Tomlinson, an Ottawa-based process consulting firm. They have been working as full-time process consultants since 1974, serving clients across the public, nonprofit, and private sectors in several countries.
In addition to her consulting work, Dorothy enjoys creating and delivering learning-centered training sessions on process design, facilitation, and conscious questioning. Participants in these workshops want to expand their skills in working with groups effectively: they are professional process consultants as well as managers, coaches, facilitators, administrators, and educators. (For more information, visit strachan-tomlinson.com.) Paul's specialty is in gathering and developing the background information and concepts that inform Strachan-Tomlinson's process consulting work. His background in adult education has been an important element in building the company's learning-centered approaches to group process and organizational change.
Process Design: Making It Work is a companion book to Making Questions Work by Dorothy Strachan, published by Jossey-Bass in 2007. Both these resources are based on many years' experience and are filled with hundreds of practice guidelines, tips, and suggestions based on real-life examples. The "we" in this book refers to Paul and Dorothy.
