Future Direction

This is an exciting time to be in the learning profession. Learning has taken on a more visible role in solving key business issues. The definition of learning itself has expanded to include more kinds of problem-solving and information-gathering activities, often referred to as informal learning. New forms of content are coming to market that engage learners with rich media and interactive challenges. Technology advances have made it possible for learning to be tailored to the needs of employees and delivered directly to their work environments. We’re looking forward to exploring this ever-evolving learning landscape with you, and continuing to build on our mission of connected learning.

SkillSoft constantly monitors emerging technologies and changes in the market. Through our client-focused events, such as Executive Advisory Board and CAFE, we seek out information on what new approaches clients are taking and any new product needs they may have. We monitor these changes/trends and try to provide solutions that are as closely matched to the market’s needs as is possible. We also stay abreast of emerging trends through frequent conversations with industry analysts and publications. In addition to the client events we also conduct ongoing primary research to develop stronger understanding of new learning needs.

In terms of industry standards, SkillSoft has taken a leadership position in standards-based technology. Our Open Learning Services Architecture (OLSA) is being widely adopted as a method for connecting disparate learning and enterprise systems. SkillSoft is committed to helping customers overcome integration challenges through standards.

With an annual investment of $54 million in R&D, SkillSoft is well positioned to bring new solutions to the market in a timely fashion.
